Railway network of any country is working like blood veins and capillaries in human body. You take heart as a main hub of any country, it may be a sea port or an airport, used for cargo transportation inland and for international cargo transportation by that country and railway network is veins in which blood circulate and at the end passes through and reaches at heart or main hub. Railway network is directly interlinked with that main hub or main source of cargo transportation as we mentioned above it may be a sea cargo port or an airport of the country. If a country has strong railway network, its cargo operation whether it is for inland or for international departures, reaches in time to the main hub and collected in time from the main hub and timely distributed inland to its destinations.
Cargo collecting system from inland of the country for its main hub has directly impact on the transportation of main vessels from the hub. If it is effective, then cargo clock revolves around three sixty degrees well, if the basic cargo network from the roots is not accurate, the whole chain and whole clock will disturb, so in cargo networks main hubs or main sea ports are important but the complete chain which involves in to take the cargo from different local markets of the country and gather it from distant places is having key importance in this business.
Pakistan railway network spreads in all over the country and it covers the whole big markets of the country effectively. If it is used to transport cargo from local markets to the main hub, Karachi seaport, then it collects revenue for the country by loading cargo from inland and further it helps international cargo transport that touches the seaports of Pakistan to collect cargo from here. Railway network of Pakistan is a department that is completely ignored by the government sector though it has main trunk of any country. Not only this, if it is planned to send relief goods to Pakistan, railway network helps a lot because of its wide covering routes.
From Karachi to Peshawar, complete network is going downwards day by day. It has directly linkage with Karachi Port but not used for cargo transportation if in use then it has very few trains for the purpose. Overall we have passenger trains move on the track from one pole of the country to the other pole. It is the best medium to transport cargo from one side to the tail or to the sea port as well as door to door cargo.
In Pakistan, road network is mostly used for cargo transportation, G.T.Road of Pakistan is the busiest route of the country on which trucks, long vehicles, mini loaders and all other cargo transportation noses toward Karachi.
It is not cheap route to use for transporting cargo from to and fro to sea port. Railway network is the cheapest source to transport cargo from any remote part of the country to the sea port. No doubt in Pakistan, both routes have their importance but railway network, if use for cargo transportation, will be the best cargo route with cheap cost.
