Pakistan customs authorities have seized the cargo and casual goods from the luggage of passengers in last week. Customs authorities said that the passengers, importers and exporters were found transporting things illegally.
In the first operation, custom officials at Lahore Airport stopped a passenger of a flight to New York for checking his luggage and found 38 packets of cigarettes of different brands. These cigarettes were illegally being transported to New York. After the investigation, passenger told that the cigarettes were for his own use and he has purchased from a local shop due to very low price. He further said that he was unaware of Pakistan’s law on carrying cigarettes.
Passenger was allowed to travel after investigation. According to the Pakistan Customs Act, 1969, A passenger can carry not more than 200 cigarettes or 20 cigars while going on board.
In another operation against illegally transported goods, Pakistan Customs Authorities seizes imported goods worth millions of rupees according to customs.
Investigation and Intelligence department of Pakistan Customs raided in Lahore city and seized contraband goods and articles which were illegally transported to Pakistan without and customs declaration on Friday. According to the reports, these imported items were included heavy loaded vehicles, scraped new vehicles to be built again, soaps and Iranian ceramics goods, cloths and other illegally imported items.
These goods were recovered from several parts of the Lahore city, raid was carried out on the instructions of Additional Director Mohsin Rafique, under the supervision of Nasir Minhas. These goods were being smuggled from Iran and several other countries via Peshawar and Quetta.Officials told the press that the case have been registered against the accused persons and investigations are underway.
At Port Qasim, Customs seized seventeen containers of ISAF forces, it was again the case of mis-declaration.Customs seizes 17 containers of ISAF over mis-declaration. Customs received the information about the containers that they are loaded with items other than declaration.
According to declaration eight containers were loaded with batteries, acids, tube lights while on search operation, authorities recover wooden pallets, bricks and several other articles against the declaration. All eight containers were seized at port Qasim. It is very important to declare everything clearly on your declaration form when you send cargo to Pakistan.
