The Dutch government has stopped the Gulf cargo flights from landing at the busiest Dutch airport Schiphol. This decision has been taken just ahead of the decision from European Commission. The shipment and cargo companies are arguing that the rules and regulations for Air Cargo and the passenger flights must be different and split from each other.
Holland’s cargo shipment group EVO is concerned about the airline KLM because they are cutting down air cargo destinations as they want to offer more relaxation to the customers in their major markets. It will increase the main deck capacity for every cargo customer.
It also offers customers to send their excess baggage and other cargo in large quantities because of increased quota in every flight.
All this situation was created just because of the story of KLM, the Dutch government is now making some strong moves to safeguard their national carrier by putting restrictions on cargo flights. It will decrease the competition in the market and Dutch carriers will get benefit from this situation.
Air cargo is a completely different business from passenger carriers and there should be more liberal traffic rights for the international cargo carriers. The official from EVO Shipment Company said that the 60 percent of flowers come from non-European countries and putting the restrictions on the non-European flights will harm the flower business in Holland. In order to get close access to the flower trade, it is important to give access to these flights to Amsterdam airport. There are several carriers that are diverted to Luxembourg, Brussels and Liege.
The head of the Qatar Airways has told the media that they are ready to de-link the cargo from passenger flights. Qatar Airways is one of the carriers that has suffered the most and it is facing maximum restrictions.
the Majority of the carrier heads argued that in Netherlands, there is a very blue (KLM) policy applied for the international flights. This policy has led the cargo companies towards a nervous situation and they are concerned about the cargo capacity. They said that Schiphol is the most open airport in the Europe where 20 international carriers are operating and it is already running out of cargo capacity.
