Airports Council International finally says that cargo volume is growing at European airports

According to the survey report issued by the Airports Council International, Europe air freight traffic increased by 0.5 percent at the year on year scale in the first six months of 2015. Two busiest airports of Europe showed a tonnage decrease by cargo volumes, while the cargo hub of the UK has great turn overs.

Frankfurt Airport revealed a 2.3 percent year on year decline to 981,655 tons and Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport displayed a fall of 4.7 percent year on year to 895,363. Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam saw a drop in volumes by 2.1 percent year on year to 784,567 tons, but at the same time, Heathrow Airport, London enjoyed the increase in tonnage by 2.1 percent year on year to 741,846.

European airports have seen important rises in cargo in the first half of 2015 where Munich Airport by 11.6 percent to 156,418 tons, Brussels Airport by 10.2 percent to 231,810, Milan Malpensa Airport by 6.6 percent to 245,951 and Liege Airport by 13.1 percent to 318,703 year on year. At the same time, some of the European airports were in decline where Gatwick Airport UK, showed a 14.7 percent decline in 36,497, Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport by 11.5 percent to 70,510 and Helsinki Airport by 21.8 percent to 68,417 tons year on year. But the second half of the year is performing vice versa.

Olivier Jankovec director general of Airports Council International Europe (ACI) declares the figures in the first half of the year 2015 have been affected by geopolitical instability and Russian economic weakness.

By describing the future status of freight he says that slower growth rate of emerging markets and as well as Russian situation is likely to keep constraining traffic performance.

In June, ACI Europe declares that cargo volumes increased by three percent, but the four busiest airports of Europe saw a year on year monthly decrease. Frankfurt airport was dropped in cargo volume 2.6 percent to 164,780 tons, CDG by 1.2 percent to 154,520, Schiphol 1.6 percent to 132,218 and Heathrow airport London by 1.9 percent in 122,964. Performance in June continues the unstable year for cargo through Europe.

In next month of May, European airports saw a 0.4 percent year on year decrease. In April, there was 0.8 percent year on year growth, but in March volumes drop year on year by 1.8 percent. In February, there was year on year growth of 2.9 percent, but in January there was year on year growth 0.5 percent decrease
